Customers

Overview

This module is used to manage Customers in BOS Enterprise.

The Customers feature lets users browse customer records and open a single customer's full details, contacts, addresses, account information, and attached files from anywhere.

Navigation

BOS Mobile App > Login > Customers (tile button)

Customers List Screen

Shows a searchable, scrollable list of every Customer the user is allowed to see — the starting point for opening a customer's full record.

Info

Only available to users with permission to view Customers. Without access, the screen shows a centred message instead: "You do not have access to Customers." and nothing else loads. The first time the screen is opened in a visit the list loads fresh; if the user leaves and returns later in the same visit, the already-loaded list is reused so it appears instantly instead of reloading.

  • Search box: Filters the list live as the user types — no Enter or search button needed. Matches company name, code, category, region, sales representative, and status.
  • Row: A round status icon on the left showing the status's initial, coloured by status (green Active, yellow/gold Prospect, teal Occasional, orange Suspended, red Closed, purple Archived, grey for any other/unrecognised status), followed by the company name (bold) and code, then category, region, and sales representative — each shown only where on file. Rows alternate background shading for readability.

Customer Detail Popup

Shows the complete record for a single customer — general details, contacts, addresses, account terms, attached files — organised into tabs, without leaving the Customers List screen.

Info

Opens when a customer row is tapped, once that customer's full information has loaded. The popup is centred and sized to 90% of the screen width/height (capped at 900×900px on larger screens). It cannot be dismissed by clicking outside — only via the Close button.

A toolbar at the top shows the customer's company name and code. Below it, a row of tabs: Detail, Contacts (n), Street Address (n), Accounting (only shown to users with the required permission — see below), and Attachments (n). Detail is selected by default whenever the popup opens, and selection resets to Detail each time the popup is closed and reopened.

Detail Tab

Read-only label/value rows: Reg. as, Category, Region, Rep, VAT No., Website, Telephone, Postal Address, Street Address (Default), and Note. Fields with no value show a dash.

Contacts Tab

Read-only, scrollable list of contacts. Each shows name (bold), position/title, telephone, mobile, and email — each only if it has a value on record.

Street Address Tab

Read-only, scrollable list of addresses. Each entry shows its reference name (or "Address" if none set), with a "(Default)" tag on the default entry. Below that: address lines (Line 1, Line 2), a combined city/state/country line, and postal code, each shown only if present.

Accounting Tab

Info

Shown only to users specifically granted access to customer accounting information (the Customers Accounting – Access Allowed setting) — otherwise it's left out of the tab row entirely, with no message explaining the omission.

Read-only account information, in a main section plus two labelled sub-sections:

  • Main fields: Status, Contact, Contact (Statements), Code, Vendor No., Reg No., VAT Type, VAT No., Currency, Credit Terms, Credit App. (date), Credit Limit and Secured Limit (money amounts with thousands separators, two decimals), Billing Method, and PriceList.
  • Debit Order Bank: Bank, Branch No, Account No.
  • Default Adjustments: Transaction Items Adj%, Estimates – Overall Adj%, Estimates – Materials – Adj%, Estimates – Services – Adj%, Estimates – Outwork – Adj% (each as a percentage).

Fields with no value show a dash.

Attachments Tab

Read-only, scrollable list of attached files/links. Each entry shows as clickable description text; tapping opens the attachment in a new browser tab (always opened securely, even if originally saved without the secure web address prefix).

Actions and Navigation

  • Close (top right of toolbar): Closes the popup, returns focus to the Customers List, and resets tab selection to Detail for next time.
  • Tab selection: Tapping a tab title switches the content shown below the toolbar.
  • Attachment links (Attachments tab only): Tapping opens the attachment in a new browser tab.

All other popup content (Detail, Contacts, Street Address, Accounting) is read-only — there is no edit, save, or delete action anywhere in the Customer Detail popup.
