Contacts
Overview
- BOS Enterprise has two contact interfaces, which are easy to confuse:
- Contacts Viewer: Lists the people and companies related to your organisation: staff, and the contact people of customers and suppliers. They are edited in their own modules.
- Contacts: Holds contacts you create yourself, with fields for names and contact details. Only these contacts have Labels and Roles.
- In the Contacts module, a contact can have several Labels, which are useful for CRM and reporting, and Roles, which add datasheets with extra fields (for example, Patient).
Menu
Two contacts can be added from the Fixed menu options to a Menu Group.
- Contacts Viewer: Displays a list of staff, customers and suppliers with their contact details.
- Contacts: Displays contacts that are created for a specific reason, and includes the labels, roles and linking features described below.
Links
- Contacts can be linked to each other from the Edit Contacts interface. For example, by linking employees to a company or by linking next-of-kin to a person.
- The Description field lets you describe the relationship between linked contacts.
Contact Fields: Contacts Viewer
Contacts have a list view which displays the contacts' information. The contacts can only be edited in their respective modules. You can open a customer or supplier from the right-click context menu. However, staff can only be edited by going to My Organisation (e.g. Main Menu > Setup > My Organisation).
- List View displays this information:
- Status
- Company
- Name
- Surname
- Position
- Telephone
- Mobile
- Location
- Created: The date on which the record was created.
- Updated: The date on which the record was last updated.
Contact Fields: Contacts Module
Contacts have a List View which displays the contacts and an Edit View where contacts can be added.
- List View displays this information:
- Name
- Telephone
- Mobile
- Labels
- Roles
- Edit View lets you capture additional fields such as addresses, ID numbers, birthdays and nicknames.
- Edit view also provides for Labels and Roles to be selected and for contacts to be Linked.

These settings apply to the Contacts Module and not the Contacts Viewer module.
