Materials Requirement Planning (MRP)

Overview

  • Material Requirement Planning (MRP) allows users to check the stock availability, and adjust their quantities if there is insufficient stock.
  • All quantities in this module are converted to the Item's Base Unit.
  • The MRP module can be added to the Menu Groups by selecting the Fixed radio button and then selecting Materials Requirement Planning (MRP).
  • When integrated, MRP can be accessed through Actions (button) from Sales and Work Orders' edit modes.

Settings

User Settings

Navigation: Main Menu > Setup > Settings > Users (tab).

  • General > Material Requirements Planning (MRP) > Access Allowed: Options are:
    • NoneView OnlyFull Access: Required to execute Actions in the MRP module.
      • None
      • View Only
      • Full Access: Required to execute Actions in the MRP module.

Transaction Settings

Navigation: Main Menu > Setup > Settings > Transactions (tab).

  • Add to the applicable Purchase Order transaction type and check the checkbox in the Value column:
    • MRP > Purchase Order Transaction (MRP - On Order)
  • Add to the applicable Work Order and Sales Order transaction type and check the checkbox in the Value column:
    • Transactions > Use for Material Requirements Planning (MRP)
    • Production Planning > Enable Materials in Production Planning

View

Buttons Explained

  • View: Generates the planning report.
  • Actions > Update Qty:
    • Allows users to update the Quantity of the item that must be produced to match available inventory.
    • When accessed from a Work or Sales Order, the Update Quantity text is more specific (e.g. Update WO xxx to the Possible Qty).

Filters Explained

  • Transaction: A dropdown list of applicable Transaction Types.
  • No.: The specific document number (e.g. Work Order number).
    • This field is filled in if you access this screen from a Work Order (e.g.  Actions (button) > Check Material Requirements).
    • It can be used to search for the MRP for a specific transaction and will return the transaction regardless of its Status.
  • Date (radio button): Click a radio button to activate Transaction Dates or Due Dates.
  • Date: A dropdown list with Date options (e.g. This month). The Date Filter is disabled if a transaction number is entered.
  • Date (fields): Start and End Dates to filter the date selection.
  • ⬅ ➡: Adjusts the Date forwards or backwards.

Fields Explained: Output

ℹ️ The top part of the screen. Only appears if MRP was accessed from the Actions (button) of a Work or Sales Order.

  • ID: A system-generated number for the transaction.
  • Status: The Status of the Work or Sales Order.
  • WO: The Work or Sales Order Number.
  • Company: The name of the Customer.
  • Date: The Date that the Work Order was created.
  • Due Date: The Date that the product is due.
  • Output: The Item that must be produced.
  • Code: The Code of the Item that must be produced.
  • WO Qty / SO Qty: The Quantity that must be produced.
  • Possible Qty: The Quantity that can be produced based on the available materials.
  • %: The percentage of the order that can be fulfilled.
  • Unit: The Unit of the Item that must be produced.

Fields Explained: Availability

ℹ️ This is the bottom part of the screen if MRP was accessed from a Work or Sales Order. If MRP is accessed directly, this will be the only display.

  • Matunit ID: A system-generated number for the material unit.
  • Material: A Description of the material/item.
  • Code: The item's Code.
  • Reference: The item's Reference.
  • Type: The Type of item (e.g. Material).
  • Demand: The Quantity needed to produce the required goods.
  • In Stock: The Quantity that is in stock.
  • On Order: The Quantity that has been ordered but not yet received.
  • On Order Due: The Due Date of the inventory that has been ordered where the Due Date is before or on the Start Date.
  • Reserve: The Quantity that is reserved for other orders.
  • Available: The Quantity available.
  • %: The percentage of the required stock quantity that is available.
  • Required: The Quantity of stock that is outstanding.
  • Unit: The material item's Unit.
  • Lead Days: The number of days it takes to receive stock once an order is placed.
  • Menu (...): 
    • View Demand by Transaction: List the Transactions that require the Material.
    • View Purchase Orders: List the Purchase Orders that comprise the On Order Quantity.
    • Open linked Item: Opens the item's setup page.
    • View Item Summary
